Whether it’s a New Years resolutioner, salon talk or soccer mom carpool people who tell me that they're just trying to be more conscious about what they eat, will fail.
They will fail because that sentence is laced with two things: the first is “I know you [coach] have the information but I don't want it because it'll be too hard for me”. The second is they don’t have any kind of plan of attack.
99% of the time when someone is “being more conscious” to lose weight or fat, they will never achieve their goals.
But let’s look deeper into the above reasons:
1. They don't have any kind of grasp on what it is going to truly take for them to lose that weight...
...(yes we all know that if you stop eating fast food and stop drinking all the beer, soda and eating the office candies that we will be healthier...). It takes education, time, patience, planning and then more patience. As Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell says “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Or as my old pappy used to say: “Remember the 6 P’s: Proper prior planning prevents poor performance.” If you don't then you're only going to go so far as your will power can take you...about 2 weeks; then it’s going to come apart.
2. They don’t have a plan of attack.
Whether that plan is one they’ve made up from all their reading and research or it is a plan they paid for from a coach or expert. If you are a stay-at-home mom and are taking care of the kids all day and you're not lifting heavy you still need a plan so when you’re exhausted and frustrated and spent you can refer to the plan and execute without much thinking. Additionally, that plan needs to include the recipes that you're going to make with the ingredients and a grocery list. It needs to be so dialed in so you can succeed with minimal thought, because all that thought has been done for you ahead of time.
Lastly, if you’re afraid of investing in that education or in a coach please realize the fact that in reality you are investing in yourself and in your goals!
So if you want to lose 30 pounds tell me how much you would pay to wake up one day and have that goal achieved and there you have your gauge for how much you could spend to make your goals a reality.
